Will Forte has announced that he is leaving Saturday Night Live. He will not be with the show when the new season begins this fall. He has been with the show since 2002, starting as a featured player, then moving up to a regular.Forte's characters were often strange and hard to describe. He's probably best known for MacGruber, but to me he'll alway be Tim Calhoun. The Calhoun character was probably the best example of how delivery was as much a part of his humor as the writing. And how can you beat a line like a politician campaigning with "There are times when I'm not gay at all"?
One of my favorite sketches with him is a spelling contest where he seizes up and keeps adding random letters. Brilliant.
